Below is a link to a page on the Lexington Herald Leader, the primary newspaper in Lexington, KY. It is a poll to determine the most intriguing newsmaker in Kentucky. One of the candidates is a horse named John Henry. John died at Kentucky Horse Park at 7:00 pm on October 8th, 2007. John was (and is) very important to me. We went to his birthday celebration, March 9, each year and adjusted our schedules so we could attend his memorial service. He is the most famous horse on the globe. As a yearling no one wanted him and his early years were marked my mistreatment. At age 4 he finally found a home and went on to win 6.6 million dollars. He was sold as yearling for $1100. In today dollars his earnings would exceed 14 million. He was only 15.1 hands and not a handsome horse but he demonstrated that you don’t have to pretty or privileged to re-write the record books and become a superstar. Please visit the site and vote for John Henry: http://www.kentucky.com/601/story/255923.html Thank you and forward this to anyone you think would want to help in giving this extraordinary life another well deserved accolade.
